We Think eCommerce is broken. So we’re fixing it. New Tools Coming Fall 2025!
About Us
We didn’t start Buyist because the world needed another eCommerce platform. In fact, the world probably needs fewer of them.
In March 2011, our founder, Gregory Silvano, ran a successful software consultancy, serving clients like Microsoft, Yahoo!, Virgin, and Monster.com. With over 60 software developers under employ, life was good - and then he had an epiphany at cigar bar in Boston.
During a two-hour conversation with a marketing executive, Greg came to the conclusion that most eCommerce platforms existed not to simplify online selling, but to complicate it. And, complexity wasn’t just a flaw - it was the entire business model.
Buyist thought it could solve this by becoming an agency ourselves. Big mistake. Agencies thrive on complexity, too. We learned that the hard way after hiring an account executive who nearly sank our company by failing a dozen of our clients.
We vowed never to make that mistake again.
So we threw everything out and rebuilt the entire platform - not once, not twice, but three times. Every rebuild stripped away more complexity, more excuses, and more of the fees that brands were told they had to accept.
As our competitors bloated their sales and marketing teams, we kept our heads down and remained lean, agile, and brutally efficient.
Everything we've accomplished - over $2 billion in client eCommerce sales and an 8% conversion rate - has come through word-of-mouth from happy, profitable clients.
Here’s what we learned in over a decade of quietly outperforming Shopify: your eCommerce platform profits directly from complexity.
Buyist was built to remove excuses, eliminate complexity, and actually deliver results - not just promise them. Our clients are the smartest marketers on earth, and they demand performance.
That’s exactly what we deliver.

Now Hiring: AI R&D Developer Internships – Summer 2025
We’re looking for sharp, motivated interns who are excited to experiment with AI, learn quickly, and contribute to something revolutionary. If you're curious about marketing, eCommerce, and AI, and you’re eager to get your hands dirty with real tools and technologies, we want to talk to you.
What You’ll Do
You’ll help build and test prototypes that simulate real functionality. Your job is to experiment, push limits, and uncover what’s possible using today’s tools.
We expect you to be curious, independent, and resourceful. The code you write won’t be used in production - it’s all about exploration and insight.
You’ll have full freedom to choose your tools, programming languages, and architecture. Whether you use PHP or Python, MySQL or no database at all, the focus is on outcomes, not process.
Projects will vary in scope. Some might take a day, others several weeks. You’ll collaborate closely with senior management and product stakeholders, and your work will help shape what gets built next.
